1. INVITATION

The Association is holding its 69th Annual Convention from 20th – 23rd August 2008 alongwith Sugar Expo 2008 at Aurangabad.  The Convention is likely to be attended by around 700/800 delegates from India & abroad.  Aurangabad is one of the oldest cities in Maharashtra and it has a history that goes back to 2200 years.  The royal feel of this city has still not faded and can be felt in its numerous relics and forts. The important places for excursion in Aurangabad are the Ajanta and Ellora caves.

During the convention a number of important subjects and issues relating to sugar manufacturing processes and equipment, agronomical practices, energy conservation, efficient co-generation of power and ethanol shall be presented and discussed.  A plenary session will also be held during the Convention.

The Sugar Technologists Association of India, will be happy to extend a warm welcome to participants across all sectors of industry both from India and abroad to join the convention and share knowledge on various current topics of concern to the world sugar industry.  This will unquestionably be a major event and business platform for all professionals involved in the sugar industry and provide unrivalled overview of all new happenings in the sugar sector.  It shall provide opportunity to up date on trends, products, technical developments and research. Besides, the convention also promises to offer a platform for networking, exploring business opportunities and tie-ups.

2. WELCOME TO AURANGABAD & CALL OF PAPERS

 

The Sugar Technologists Association of India (STAI) is organizing its 69th Annual Convention at WelcomHotel Rama International, Aurangabad from 20th – 23rd August 2008.  We cordially invite all the sugar mill managements for participation in this forthcoming 69th Annual Convention.  We also request the factory managements to kindly depute in large numbers, technical personnel from their organizations for participation in the above convention and get benefited from the deliberations during the Convention.  

Call of Papers 

We invite good quality research papers from the members in the categories of Agriculture, Manufacturing, Engineering and Co-products.  Keeping in view the significance of the event and the limited number of technical papers to be accepted & presented during the Convention, we request the authors to write quality papers, giving their latest innovations, enclosing the precise data with the achievements of their research work and its usefulness for the sugar industry.  The last date for acceptance of the paper is extended to  21st June 2008.

The author should also give certificate that "the paper/poster submitted are original and have not been communicated for publication elsewhere".  The author should give abstracts in around 150-200 words followed with keywords.  The length of paper should be 1500 to 3000 words excluding abstracts.

3.  S.N. GUNDURAO MEMORIAL LECTURE SERIES

    

The S.N. Gundurao Memorial Lecture is a tribute to Lt. Sh. S.N. Gundurao's contribution in the field of sugar technology and his services to the sugar industry in particular.  A lecture series known as S.N. Gundurao Memorial Lecture Series was started in the year 1987 and is held every year during the Annual Convention. World-renowned Indian and Foreign experts are invited to deliver this lecture.

4. SUGAR EXPO 2008

An exhibition will be held during the Convention from 20th – 23rd Aug. `08 at WelcomHotel Rama International, Aurangabad.  The exhibition will have participation from organizations and associations dealing with the sugar sector.  Space for commercial displays is also being organized by STAI.  The exhibitors will be having their stalls inside the hotel adjacent to main conference hall.  Keeping in view the importance of the event, we would like to advise the exhibitors to actively participate during the Convention. The other details are as follows :

 

  • Dates : 20th - 23rd August 2008 - 20th (A.N) - 23rd (F.N)
  • Unit Stall Size : 3m x 3m (9 mts)
  • Cost of the Stall : Rs.50000/stall .  These stalls will be allotted on first-come-first-served basis
  • The stalls shall include Fascia walls, fascia board, exhibitors name on front
  • One table, two chairs, carpet, one power point, socket & waste paper basket
  • Payment : via DD in favour of STAI, payable at New Delhi

We invite all sugar machinery manufacturers and allied product manufactures  to take part in Sugar Expo and also sponsor events during the 69th Annual Convention. 

It will be an exceptional occasion for the companies related to sugar including machinery and technology to showcase their capabilities and quality.  Sugar Expo 2008 will provide a common platform for sugar producers, traders, machinery and allied product manufacturers to display their products and enter into strategic business tie-ups.

Stalls are in limited nos. and would be allotted on first-come-first-served basis.  Therefore, we request the parties interested to confirm their booking by remitting the cost of stall to avoid last minute disappointment.

To avoid inconvenience to the delegates and embarrassment to the organizer’s, it 
is requested that the following instructions be strictly followed by every delegate 
attending the 69th Annual Convention 2008 :
 
 
·   The delegate should present the original receipt of the delegation fee
   paid by him at the counter of registration to procure all the necessary papers,  
   coupons, proceedings etc. 
·  The delegate should wear the badge; displaying his name at the time of 
   attending the Convention programme for all the four days.
	·  Particularly at the time of Lunch etc., the delegate must present the corresponding Coupons to the volunteer at the counter.  Entrance to Dining Hall will be       restricted to the delegates presenting the coupons.
	·  Vehicle owners are requested to purchase Lunch Coupons for their drivers.  Coupons will be available at the office counter of the convention and its cost will be Rs. 300/per meal.  
   
·  Additional Meal Coupons :    Registered delegates are eligible to get Meal
   Coupons for Children upto the age of 18 years on payment of Rs.500/per meal/child.

7. PAYMENT DETAILS

Delegates are requested to send their delegation fee, one day hotel advance for confirming accommodation and their membership dues (if any) through DD in favour of “The Sugar Technologists Association”, payable at New Delhi.  Please confirm your room booking by 15th July `08 positively.  Accommodation requests after 15th July 2008 will be subject to availability.

Members are requested to remit their previous/current year membership.  The companion members are entitled to depute one representative as delegate by paying the delegation fee to attend the annual convention.

By Rail :- There is a direct train link  between  Mumbai & aurangabad. Trains Such as Devgiri express and Tapovan express run daily between  Mumbai 7 aurangabad in evening & morning respectively. There is a direct train to Hyderabad too.Besides, trains such as  sachkhand Express ply between  New delhi and Aurangabad.
