Introduction

The Sugar Technologists’ Association of India (STAI) was founded in the year 1925. Mr. Noel Deerr – the distinguished Sugar Technologist was the founding father as well as its first President. The credit for the orientation of the Association goes to Sh. R.C. Srivastava, founder Director of the imperial institute of Sugar Technology. Today the Indian Sugar Industry has pride place on the world sugar map as one of the largest producer of sugarcane and sugar in the world.

Objective
|

The objective of the Association is to promote knowledge of science and practice of sugar technology for persons following or studying for this profession and other kindred branches of science. To achieve its objective the organizations holds scientific discourses, workshops/seminars, publishes technical research papers, journals, periodicals etc. STAI also takes up R&D projects or sponsor schemes of research relating to sugar industry and its allied fields. |

Services Offered by STAI

The Association has a pool of qualified technocrats and a cumulative store house of knowledge. Under STAI R & D Initiative, the Association takes up consultancy services, R&D projects with the involvement/participation of members, sugar factories etc on :
• Applied Research Work,
• Extension Work,
• Technical Audit,
• Problems requiring research and development and investigational work to be carried out in the following disciplines :
a. Sugarcane Agriculture,
b. Engineering,
c. Factory Processing,
d. Equipment Design,
e. Automation,
f. Coproducts and
g. Environmental Protection etc.
It is instrumental in developing & promoting vital process technologies & state-of-the-art equipment manufactured by Indian companies for sugar industry applications.
