STAI is the affiliate member of ICUMSA and represents the Indian Sugar Industry to ICUMSA.
STAI has been actively participating in the activities of ICUMSA & our scientists/technocrats have actively participated in the international collaborative studies organized by ICUMSA.
On our recommendation ICUMSA has nominated a number of Referees and Associate Referees from India who are working with their counter parts in different countries of the world on various ICUMSA Methods/studies/collaborative research work.
In 2003,
STAI organized the 23rd Session of ICUMSA at Pune. STAI is the only Association
in Asia which organized the ICUMSA Session in India.
ICUMSA is
the only international organization concerned solely with analytical methods for
the sugar industry. In addition to use by that industry, ICUMSA methods are recognized
by authorities such as the Codex Alimentations Commission, the OIML, the EU, and
the US Food Chemicals Codex. Thus ICUMSA provides accurate methods of sugar analysis
by undertaking collaborative studies which facilitates in national and international
trade.
